Individual project (Storyboard)
Above is my 'Gnomes In The Garden' stop motion storyboard i have drawn out the main things that will be taking place during the animation. basically the animation is set in the spring time and the gnomes are making there way out of the shed to their final destination in the garden.

For my Individual project I will be creating a short stop motion film. i had the idea of creating a stop motion animation using garden gnomes as a contingence plan for my Final Major Project ( the last work I did at BOCT). As I already had the images I thought it was about time to create my gnome animation.

This is one of the three collectables for my game the idea being the the main character will collect the sand castles to get to the other beach and more importantly the next level.

flash game platform
I have now come up with a platform for my character to be in. the location is a seaside ( beach and sea). the idea is that the player will have to navigate the character over the water to the other beach to progress through the game. but as you probable know a flam and water done not miss well so if the character touches the water the game will restart from the begging of the level.
The above is the level deign. The character (flame) will have to jump on the wooden ledges but if flame stays on the ledge for to long as they will break. The idea is for the flame to collect 3 sandcastles in this level before he can progress to the next level. When all of the sand castles have been collected flam will need to make his way to the opposite beach to the one he started on.

Flash game
This would be my first attempted at creating a flash platform game. I had a lot of difficulties in deciding what I was going to do for my game and who my main character was going to be. My inspiration for my character came for the EDF energy the flame. So now I had my character idea but still no platform for him to sit in.
The above is my main character for my flash game.
Puzzle Mini Game
As a team we decided that we were taking on a lot of work (by doing 12 levels) so we made a compromise. We are still going to create 12 puzzles but only 6 levels. The idea being that the player has more of a choice as to what puzzle they would like to complete.
As you can see from the design above there is no blue square. Myself and Valia (puzzle level designer) thought it would be more appealing if the image has the puzzle outline but the overall image is faded. Also by the user of the game will have a template to follow in recreating the image.

outline for puzzle mini game
This is an outline for the first of 12 levels for our game. Each square that is outlined in grey represents the puzzle pieces. The number for this level is still to be decided but, the number will increase for each of the 12 levels to make the game harder as the levels increase. By doing this we hope that it will be- come an enjoyable game to play and not a boring, safe and easy game.
The blue square will change its position each level but for this level I decided to put it in the middle to allow the user to build the puzzle around it. I want the pieces to be the same size, as they would be when you place them into the main stage.

First Design
This is my first design for the section of the game that I will be creating. My design is based on the first level, as the levels increase in difficulty so will the puzzle (the amount of jigsaw pieces will increase). For this level the player will need to recreate the image using 8 pieces as the middle one will be one to help.

Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean Animation
In this animation I tried to recreate one of the scenes from the film Pirates Of The Caribbean Dead Man's Chest. I created this animation at my end of year show (which is to show case all of the work we have done though out the year). As well as showing my work to the visitors I was doing a stop motion workshop.

Last day of year 1
Thats it my first year has finished. I can't believe that it has gone so fast it only seems like yesterday that I was starting at winchester university, but in reality I started back in september. I can't wait till i start back in september on the Development course.

Interactive Project
As I said in my last post this project is for Winchester cathedral and if they like our idea they might use it in the future.
We have now been given a target audience (people with disabilities) and our idea is to have a webcam set up and the user can look and move the cam by doing this they will be able to get the full experience of the cathedral. also augmented reality to give them something fun to look at.
Today I went to the cathedral to take some images so that I can use them as insperation for our interface my idea is to keep the user linked to the cathedral the whole time they are using it.

Two down One project to go
Today myself, Becca and Naomi presented our final mobile device to the rest of the class. I think that it went well as our device has changed for the better and no longer looks like an iPhone. The only problem that I had with our presentation was my memory stick wasn't recognised on the mac and as such we could not show the rest of the class the 3D model that I have made in cinema 4D. But we did have our mock up designs that Naomi made to give the class an idea of what our devise looks like.
Also today we was given our new project which is to create an interactive exhibit for Winchester Cathedral. so in my new group (I am working with Mat and Gemma). We where coming up with some ideas of this project and on Thursday all of us are going down to the Cathedral to get some inspiration.
On Monday we are going to be presenting our idea to the rest of the class.

Travel bug mock up


Above are some images that I have taken of our mock up device which was made by Naomi. as you can see form the image in the middle it fits nicley in the users hand. the image on the right shows the position our device should be in to take a picture and the image on the left shows our device in the closed position.
Our mock up helps us to then create a 3D model in the software program called Cinema 4D.
Travel bug
This is another design of our device which we have all agreed on. We like the size of this device as it fits nicely in someone's hand. We have made a mock up model based on this design which you will see in my next post. The colour for our devise is still to be decided on, but we do know that we want the colour to be suitable for businsses profesionals.

Travel bug
This is my first mock up design of our device. we took in the feedback and come up with this idea. Our insperation came from my glasses box.
Mobile Device
As a group we came up with our ideas and the first design for our device but it was looking alot like and iphone. We could not get our designs to look less like an iphon and when we presented our idea our feedback was to do with our device looking like an exsisting product. so we went back to the drawing board and come up with another more unique idea which you will see in my next post.
I am glad to say that this device dose not look like an iphone which has to be a gd thing right.

One project down two to go
Thats it today myself, Chris and Anna presented our final game to the rest of the class. I think that it went down well and that they all liked it. but now that the games project is over and done with we have another porject to take its place.
This one is called Mobile Dvices we have to come up with ideas in our new teams this time im working with Naomi and Becca. We only have this week to come up with our final idea because next monday we have to do a presentation on that idea

Game design platform
This is what I have created for our games platform ( the area that the character walks, runs and jumps from). the background images was designe and made by Anna a fellow team member I added in the scaffolding. I game a copy of my design to Chris to add into the game which he has done and to my suprise it fits in with the rest of the games look.
Now i have something to talk about on Monday which is when we are showing off our game to the rest of the class.

Game design
From the research I did over the weekend Chris has asked if I could design the platform that our character will run, jump ect or anything else that will apear in our game. This could be good but i have to make my designs fit together with Anna's (main game desinger) work. I will be giving it a go but my designs are not that great so i hope that they do for our game.

Character design (Rabbit)

This character is for a story that everyone in the class had a hand in making. (We all wrote a sentance to continue the story). As you can see from my character design the story fetures a rabbit. I chose to make my character look like a grandad figure for the main character who is also a rabbit.
Like my poster I hand drew the character then eddited (adding the colour) in Photoshop I also added the background to add some more information about the character.

Game's level design pyramid
This is a design I came up with. What you are seeing is my interpretation of what the inside the pyramid part of the level will look like. John (one of my tutors on my course) came up with the idea of incorporating hieroglyphics in to our game deign. So I decided that for inside of the pyramid I would use the hieroglyphics as art work on the walls to show the player that they had moved on though the level from the outside to the inside.
I showed the other members of the team my level design and found out that we all have come up with the same sort of idea of how our game should look.

Game Idea
For this new project we are working in groups to design and create a level of a video game for an audience of 11-15 year olds. As our audience is for secondary school students we have disided to base our game around history of the world. Our first level will be based on ancient Egypt our second level on ancient Greece and our third level ancient Rome and so on. As we are only designing for one level the group has chosen to make the first level (ancient Egypt) in the style of 2D platforme game and in paticular the mario gmaes. We think by designing the game like marion will help make the game fun and less of an educational/ instuctional game (which can be boaring to play).

New Project
Today I have started back at uni after a long christmas holiday. And already I have some work to be doing for next week a presentation on the game going that we are going to be designing. This project I think I am going to enjoy more so than the last projcet the chort website. (I don't much like designing and codeing websites I find that animation in any shape or form is up my street). this project is small time wise in comparison to the website having only 4 weeks to come up with the plot line ect.
